The Indie Book Reading Challenge 2020

Updated: May 1

I decided to read and review a few indie books on top of my regular reading this year.

Since I have become an active part of Twitter's #writingcommunity, I have also become aware of how many indie books are published all the time. Some of them sound quite promising and I feel like they deserve more love.

So this year, I am going to read a few #indie books on top of my regular reading list. This blog post will be updated as I find more of them and I will also review the ones I enjoyed. As I read quite widely this is going to be quite a genre-mix. Find below a list of #historical and #contemporary #fiction books as well as several #fantasy and #speculative fiction books that I will eventually write blog posts about!

The "Read and Reviewed" List

Genre: YA contemporary romance

Falling in love isn't complicated... unless it's with your best friend.

Genre: YA Contemporary

Skipping school. Drinking. Partying with a fake ID. Taking the school's drivers education car for a joyrode. It was all fun and games until a car accident changed everything.

Genre: Romance, Adventure

Unscrupulous is a last-chance coming-of-age story and a romance as raw and gritty as the Old West.

Genre: YA fantasy

Hella is seeing angels and demons, bus she never believed in magic.

Genre: historical fiction

For over two-thousand years, Marcus Antonius--Marc Antony--has been one of history's most controversial men. His story was buried with him and written by his enemies. Now his entire saga is revealed in a compelling trilogy by Brook Allen.

Genre: historical fiction

Genre: steampunk

Puzzling Intrigue. Epic Adventure. Cut-throat competition.

Genre: fantasy

Clara Grey’s parents once said that the world was a dark and dangerous place. There was more truth than fiction to those words. There were things that lurked in the shadows which defied the laws of nature: perversions that fed on the dead, terrorised the living, or escaped the chill touch of the grave.

Genre: dystopian

Nix St Clair has been a Cleveland cop for 20 years, and she’s never seen anything like the chaos of Geezer Flu. It’s the same everywhere - or so says cable TV until the power starts going on and off like a caution light. Why she hasn’t died is a question Nix is too busy to answer, but she knows the authorities are fighting a losing battle. Geezer is unstoppable, and it will get her, too, sooner or later.
